Winter
Mammoth Mountain is one of the largest ski resorts in the United States with over 3,500 acres of skiable terrain and over 26 lifts, there is never a dull day on the slopes! With over 30 feet of snowfall per season, Mammoth offers skiers a varied selection of terrain, from deep powder, to well-groomed ski runs, to challenging racecourses. Mammoth's Unbound Terrain Parks are known worldwide, ranking in the top ten terrain parks, by several accredited magazines. Unbound is made of seven parks and three pipes and has features suitable for everyone. If you are looking for an invigorating experience, you can shoosh your way through the tree-lined trails of Mammoth's scenic Lakes Basin. There are nineteen miles of freshly groomed trails available for cross-country skiers and snowshoers of all abilities to enjoy.
Spring
You can have the best of both worlds in the Spring...Where else can you go to fish in the morning and ski in the afternoon? Fishing season opens in late April and there are a variety of lakes for you to try and catch "the big one". Or if you would rather ski in the morning and golf in the afternoon, well that is available too! With two golf courses to chose from, you might just skip the skiing and make a day of it. The Sierra Star Golf course is a PGA rated eighteen-hole course and is the highest golf course in California. You can also enjoy Snowcreek's nine-hole course and driving range, while taking in the stunning scenery that Spring offers in Mammoth. For those who enjoy the luxuries of day spas and shopping, Mammoth Luxury Outlets features stores such as Coach and Ralph Lauren. There are variety of day spas that feature anything from personal trainers to full body treatments.
Summer
Summer in Mammoth Lakes is nothing short of exciting. Starting with the Mammoth Motocross, racers and spectators come to Mammoth Lakes in late June to enjoy some of the best motocross competitions in the world. For those who love adventure, Mammoth Mountain turns its runs into a summer outdoor experience, including a mountain bike park, rock climbing and ropes course. If you visit in the summer, a must-see is Devils Postpile National Monument. Not much further of a hike, you can enjoy the colors of Rainbow Falls and Reds Meadows. Mammoth Lakes is called that for a reason...The High Sierras are full of them! Swimming, fishing, kayaking, take your pick of your favorite water sport and there is a lake that will suit your needs. Of course, Mammoth is also famous for its summer festivals, including the Mammoth Jazz Jubilee and Festival of Beers.
Fall
Possibly one of the best seasons for the perfect photo shoot, Mammoth and its surrounding Lakes transforms itself in the Fall, lending itself to breathtaking color changes of vibrant reds, oranges and yellows. A day trip around the High Sierras is absolutely a must, if you want to experience the sites that Ansel Adams found most inspiring. June and Crowley Lakes are particularly breathtaking during this time of year. If you want nostalgia, take a "bumpy" road trip to Bodie. One of California's gold mining ghost towns, Bodie was once notorious as the wildest town in the West. For hunters and fisherman, there are still many opportunities enjoy the great outdoors, just remember to have your proper permits in place!
